Soudal unlocks the value of one-to-many product data publishing with GS1 New Zealand

Digital data about your products uploaded once and then available to multiple customers for every purpose – the reality is becoming even easier to achieve with the arrival of our new version of MyGS1 enabling members to share data easily through GS1’s National Product Catalogue (NPC). That’s certainly been the case for sealants, foams and adhesives manufacturer Soudal, according to its Customer Services Manager, Paul Dormizzi.

Soudal gains time back using the new version of MyGS1

Soudal, owner of the Gorilla brand, is the first supplier of products in both Hardware, and Food and Grocery to use MyGS1 for uploading to the NPC with use thereafter by retailers in both sectors.

“We have gained so much time back with the new portal because it’s so much easier to use and GS1 gives such prompt support whenever we need to check that information is loaded up correctly,” Paul says. “Tasks that could previously take up to a week from start to finish can now be completed within minutes.”

Paul says the useability of the new version puts the NPC even more at the fingertips of Soudal managers and staff as a valuable business tool. “We could be going on every day for a week (to upload data) or only every few weeks … it all depends on what is happening in our world but now, we are always assured that our product data is up to date and in the correct places for business partners to recognise and use.”

New interface is more intuitive

The new interface simplifies and speeds up the ways in which suppliers can upload standardised product data through the NPC, and retailers can retrieve and use that data as it becomes available in new or updated form. It makes interfacing with the NPC a much more intuitive process whatever suppliers and retailers are seeking to achieve with product data.

To date, all major hardware product suppliers have been migrated across to the new version – that’s around 200 manufacturers and distributors of many thousands of products with data in the NPC. Suppliers in other sectors will be progressively migrated to the new version with close support from the GS1 New Zealand team.

One-to-many data sharing unlocked

The value of one-to-many data publishing is being unlocked for suppliers and recipients of data – and we look forward to bringing this ease-of-use to further members of GS1 New Zealand. As the migration to the new version continues for product suppliers GS1 New Zealand will be reaching out to key member contacts and offering clear guidance on the migration steps.

Paul from Soudal says the migration went very smoothly for Soudal thanks to the portal’s good design and close support from GS1 New Zealand.
