To place a GS1 bar code on your product you need to become a GS1 NZ member. Become a One Number member if you're a small to medium business, and only need a small number of bar codes. Or become a Full member if you're from a larger organisation and need several bar codes. Find out more about our membership types. |
Full member Fee for allocating your company a block of unique numbers. We can allocate you blocks of 100, 1000, 10,000 or 100,000.
One Number member Note: One Number membership is ONLY for organisations with an annual turnover under $1 million. |
| Bar code generator - turn your bar code number into a graphic that you can use on your product packaging. |
Become a member to generate graphics of your bar code numbers in My GS1, our online members' area. |
$15 + GST for each bar code graphic. |
| Bar code verification - use our verification service to check that scanners can read your bar code first time, every time. |
Become a Full or One Number GS1 NZ member to order bar code verification reports in My GS1, our online members' area. If you're not a GS1 NZ member, complete a non member application form (pdf). |

| Global Trade Item Numbers (GTIN) - unique numbers that identify any item (product or service) that may be priced, or ordered, or invoiced, or actively inventory managed at any point in any supply chain. These numbers may still be required even if a product is not bar coded | To allocate your own GTINs you need to be become a GS1 NZ member. You need to be a Full GS1 NZ member to utilise this service. This can be done online using the following link. Once you are a Full GS1 NZ member you can register for the GS1net service and commence your data collection |
