GS1 - The global language of business

New Zealand EPC Pathfinder Community

pathfinderGary Hartley, GS1 New Zealand's Manager for Strategic Initiatives announced at the EPC/RFID - The Way of The Future Conference held in Auckland 8th - 9th February, the establishment of a dedicated New Zealand EPC Pathfinder Community.

The initiative is designed to bring together both individuals and companies interested in investigating, trialing and deploying the EPCglobal Network within their business in New Zealand. The community will also include strategic industry associations, systems integrators, consulting firms, research and academic institutions.

The overall objective of the Pathfinder Community is to establish an EPC/RFID community to meet, exchange information, drive pilots, research, share experiences and provide a support environment as the technology evolves in New Zealand and internationally. It is intended that there will be a close assocaition with the already established Australian EPC/RFID cluster group.

'Over the past year or so, we've spoken to literally hundreds of individuals, companies, and associations about RFID/EPC and its application and relevance within the New Zealand supply chain', says Gary Hartley. 'It's always been our objective as part of the EPC roadmap for New Zealand, to establish and formalise a dedicated group of ‘like minded' evangelists who have an interest in the field - be they end users, consultants, developers, academics and the like. We think this initiative is a logical first step in achieving this'.

The Pathfinder Group was incorporated as an Incorporated Society on 11th May 2006 and is known as The New Zealand RFID Pathfinder Group Inc.
